Arteta Applauds a More Dependable Team and Acknowledges Kai Havertz Injury Blow.

The Gunners' boss has expressed confidence that his squad can continue to cope with fitness issues after disclosing that attacker Kai Havertz is not ready for the coming weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

The German forward has been out since the summer due to an operation on his knee. Originally slated to return earlier in December, Arteta revealed the player encountered a problem when stepping up his training and could not progress “the next phase.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a team that is considerably steadier and has increased versatility,” Arteta said.

Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash

This news leaves a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. A decision is required between sticking with Mikel Merino, who got a goal playing out of position on Sunday, or recalling Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return off the bench in the latter stages. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus remains in contention post-recovery.

Defensive Concerns Remain

Further fitness issues affect defender William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who were absent for the Chelsea match. As a result, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are expected to continue in central defence for the table-toppers.

Arteta feels the significant outlay on new players ahead of this season has placed the club in a far better place to navigate such absences.

Greater Options Key to Premier League Pursuit

In response if a larger pool of players was benefiting their league challenge, the manager agreed. “Yes, because this season has been worse in the attacking line, and now the problems with the defence,” he noted.

“We learned from the past that we need to utilize players in various roles, and they have to be able to perform various functions if we want to compete at this level. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Frustrated Star

Commenting on the setback noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided further detail. “He was doing everything. He could not go to the required step and now it appears like we have unlocked that.”

The manager conveyed his personal desire to welcome him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Truly, he is a footballer who, in my view, I love so much for his contributions to the team, but his personality, his attitude. I see him suffer on the sidelines.”

“His playing record is outstanding, he’s been always available, and I am eagerly awaiting to have him back involved and playing because I feel it’s going to be a massive boost.”
